Abstract: the problem of psychological readiness of young employees of the penitentiary system to serve in a correctional institution
The author considers the problem of unformed readiness of young employees of the penitentiary system to serve in a correctional institution. At present, there is a trend of aging of the staff of the penitentiary system. The government is considering raising the age limit for service, because experienced qualified officers reach the age limit of service and retire on superannuation, but they are not replaced by young professionals. To date, the penal enforcement system is experiencing a shortage of personnel. Young employees who do not have a specialized education, coming to the service, do not withstand the pressure and either leave or begin to undergo professional deformation, which is expressed in the consolidation of destructive and self-destructive forms of behavior, violations of official discipline, ethics and law, lack of interest in personal and professional development. At the same time, a passive personal position of the victim of circumstances appears, which does not make it possible to actively act for the benefit of the development and improvement of the entire system as a whole.
This situation can be corrected by systematic and purposeful work to form an adequate understanding of the history and mission of the penal system and its important social role, as well as to form an active position in improving the conditions of service and the reputation of the penal system.
