Abstract: the article is devoted to the problem of applying modern psychological methods to help people in managerial positions in stressful situations. Modern scientific views on stress and stress resistance of an individual are disclosed. It is shown that the professional stress of managers is due to the high stressogenicity of managerial activity. The specifics of psychological assistance to managers who are experiencing current stress is determined by the nature of the stressful situation and the stress response of the leader’s personality, and the leading strategies for coping with stress and resistance to stress. It is shown that the targets of psychological assistance to managers is the formation of resistance to psycho-traumatic factors of professional activity and professional interaction. The general characteristics of psychological assistance and its functions are disclosed. The modern paradigm of psychological assistance is based on a subject-subjective or personality-oriented approach, suggesting a developing strategy and dialogue. Modern methods of psychological assistance are based on an integrative model, which includes variable techniques and methods of psychological impact, each of which is aimed at solving a particular problem. An integrative approach to providing psychological assistance to managers in a stressful situation involves a combination of individual forms of work, in the form of personal coaching and psychological consultations, and group professionally-oriented social and psychological trainings and seminars.
