Abstract: the article shows the results of a study of the features of accentuations of the personality of cadets of the military institute of the 1st and 3rd courses according to the method of K. Leonhard. According to the results of the conducted work, the predominance of the hyperthymic type of character is expressed. The analysis of the research allows us to formulate conclusions and assess the future prospects of personal development in the conditions of military training activities. The military profession, implemented in difficult, sometimes extreme, environmental conditions, cannot be mass. Even at the stage of professional training, it makes increased demands on the personality of the future officer. Therefore, there is a problem of assessing a person’s professional fitness for the military profession and identifying the entire set of factors that affect the effectiveness of military professional activities. The peculiarities of character expression have always interested scientists and attempts at classification were aimed at determining what conditions and how they affect the formation of personality as a whole.
