THE ROLE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IN COUNSELORS OF CHILDREN’S CENTERS

Abstract: the article examines the role of psychological well-being and emotional intelligence, which are related to the quality of people’s life. Special emphasis is placed on people engaged in pedagogical activities, in particular camp counselors of children’s centres, whose work is closely related to direct interaction with children. “Psychologically successful” camp counselors are the guarantee of effective interpersonal communication with children, which creates a favorable environment in the children’s collective and helps with the development of a psychologically healthy and harmonious personality of teenagers. The article analyzes the results of measuring the level of psychological well-being and emotional intelligence in the camp counselors of the All-Russian Children’s Center “Ocean” using the technique “Psychological well-being scale” by C. Ryff, the D.Lyusin’s «Questionnaire of emotional intelligence» and N. Hall’s «Diagnostics of emotional intelligence». The authors try to identify correlations between psychological well-being and emotional intelligence and describe relationships between their individual scales. One of the important conclusions of the study is the possibility of increasing the level of psychological well-being as a subjective feeling of happiness. This is possible by creating programs of emotional intelligence through training programs. Such programs can be included in current programs of “Schools of camp counsellors’ training”.
