MANAGERS IN RUSSIA TODAY AND TOMORROW: TEMPORARY COMPETENCE AND TIME PERSPECTIVE, VALUE CONFLICT AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

Abstract: this article analyzes the problems of time perspective and time competence in the context of the temporal orientation and value aspirations of a generation of current middle and senior managers, as well as students – future managers. “Temporary competence” in this context is considered from the position of J.Nuttin as an opportunity for the subject to link their current activity, specify goals and motivation with the future. The article highlights the relationship between temporary competence and the development of the “strategic thinking” competence in modern managers. The study involved 104 respondents-managers included in the personnel reserves: 16 current TOP managers, 24 average managers and 64 best students of Lomonosov MSU of Economics and Management Faculty. Using the ZTPI questionnaire, F. Zimbardo identified a number of critical differences between the generation of current and future managers, analyzed the possible causes of such discrepancies and the essence of the value conflict between the generations of current and future managers. The problems are revealed and recommendations are given in psychological support of both groups for high-quality career and personal development, as well as overcoming the above-mentioned challenges: comprehensive programs, mentoring, individual development plans, coaching, facilitation, etc.
