Abstract: the problem of cognitive social capital is actively studied in the framework of social and economic psychology. In our study, we propose to consider the importance of studying the cognitive social capital of an individual in future teachers. The formation of a base of cognitive social capital at the stage of university education will lay the foundation for professional development.
The article discusses the essence of the concepts of “social capital” and “cognitive social capital” of an individual. The main characteristics of social capital are highlighted. The specificity of the cognitive social capital of students of a pedagogical university is scientifically substantiated. It was established that freshmen-future teachers are capable of accepting the values and norms of the group, prone to collectivism, are responsible for individual and collective work, but such behavior is not dictated by conscious motivation and needs, but by uncertainty in one’s own actions and not the ability to make decisions independently. The results obtained in the study determine the strategy of targeted psychological and pedagogical work on the formation of cognitive social capital of students’ personalities.
