A CASE FROM PRACTICE: SIMULTANEOUS SURGICAL TREATMENT OF THE LEUOMYOMA OF THE URINARY BLADDER AND BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA

Abstract: leiomyoma is one of the extremely occasional tumors of the bladder. To date, there are no more than 300 clinical observations reported in the literature, most of which occur in the past century. Taking into account  the publication of only a few clinical observations, currently there is no standard algorithm for the treatment of this pathology. In this article, we present our own clinical observation of simultaneous treatment of bladder leiomyoma and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) by means of transurethral resection with a bipolar. This method was chosen taking into account the small size of the tumor (2 cm) and localization in the area of the bladder neck on the front surface. Both of these circumstances made it possible not to resort to more “traumatic” surgical methods. In our opinion, these indicators are fundamental in the choice of treatment method, between transurethral technologies and “classical” open (or laparoscopic) resection of the bladder.
